Worksite Wellness
A worksite wellness program can increase health awareness, provide health education, and encourage employee lifestyle change. A wellness program should be tailored to fit the needs of each business and it’s employees. Wellness programs are a great way to create a unified workplace that boosts employee moral and productivity.

Goals of a worksite wellness program can include:
- Make healthy snacks available for employees at a reasonable cost
- Create an environment or plan for increasing physical activity
- Prevent illness and injury of employees
- Educate employees on prevention and treatment of chronic disease
- Create a safe work environment
- Create a smoke-free or drug-free workplace
Even small businesses can enjoy the benefits of a worksite wellness program. Programs do not have to be costly, complicated, or time-consuming. If you are interested in developing a worksite wellness program at your organization the Piscataquis Public Health Council can work with you to help get you started. For more information about starting a wellness program, and for mini grant opportunities for small businesses please contact the PPHC Health Educator at 564-4123.
