The Piscataquis Public Health Council is involved in many tobacco related initiatives.Our objective, through education and support programs, is to help reduce death and disability from tobacco use among Maine citizens and create environments that are supportive of a tobacco-free life.
- We assist local schools to adopt smoke free policies, we provide education to daycare programs around second hand smoke,
- We assist in helping parents implement rules to prohibit smoking in cars and at home.
- We work with retailers to reduce tobacco advertising in the community
- We work with businesses to provide support and resources for employees who smoke.

Additionally, we offer a free "Lunch and Learn" Clinical Outreach Program for health care and behavioral health care providers on Tobacco Cessation. This work strives to increase the number of providers who screen and refer patients to appropriate tobacco treatment. Contact the Clinical Outreach Specialist at 564-4159 to schedule a program.
